Spring Messengers

Spring Messengers

When the cold New England winter comes to an end one of my favorite seasons of the year is about to start. It is the time when I am looking forward to seeing the grass and ground emerge from the white. I always anticipate this exiting and decisive moment when I discover the first crocus blooming. Usually they sprout first at the ... Read it all .

Crawling at Little Hunters Beach

Human forms in nature is something I always look for when I head out into the field. It all started in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the last image I stumbled upon is from beautiful Acadia National Park in Maine. This morning I was actually looking to add on to my landscape photography collection when I came across this piece of driftwood that ... Learn More.

Twilight Poetry

Twilight Poetry

What an incredible treasure of poetry by Irish and Dublin born novelist and poet James Joyce ~ hope you like it too!

The Twilight Turns

The twilight turns from amethyst
To deep and deeper blue,
The lamp fills with a pale green glow
The trees of the avenue.
The old piano plays an air,
Sedate and slow and gay;
She bends upon the yellow keys,
Her head inclines this way.
Shy thought and grave wide eyes and hands
That wander as they list -
The twilight turns to darker blue
With lights of amethyst.

Botanical Greenhouse Photography

Botanical Greenhouse Photography

Last Friday morning I took a trip to the local botanical greenhouse at Wellesley College. It is only a 20 to 25 minutes drive from my house and I only discovered it recently. It helps me to stay focused on my flower photography during the cold New England winter months that otherwise would not be very productive. The first time I visited one of the caretakers showed me these beautiful passion flowers in bloom ... Read it all .

Fall Foliage Splendor in Acadia National Park

Fall Foliage Splendor in Acadia National Park

When I visited magical Acadia National Park in Maine for a couple of days of pristine fall foliage photography over Columbus Day weekend, I found the reds and yellows of the trees in peak autumn colors. I remember thinking upon arrival that it would be great to bring home a photograph that somewhat conveys the immense color burst and beauty of Acadia National Park during the famous New England fall foliage season. On the second morning it all fell into place when ... Learn More.

The Making of Boston Dark as Night

The Making of Boston Dark as Night

Boston offers many photo ops for the local and travel photography enthusiast. There are plenty of historic landmarks and architectural marvels around. The skyline can be admired from many spots. One hot spot for Boston Skyline Photographyis Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA. I love this area because it easily allows adjusting on the go. The other night I photographed into the night. While the sky turned dark, the city lights provided an interesting contrast. The icing on the cake was a really calm Charles River that I haven't experienced in quite some time. The windless night and quiet waters made for an excellent skyline reflection. Aperture in this picture was set at f/11, providing an exposure time of 20 seconds at ISO200. During routine post processing I adjusted lighting, contrast and color saturation before removing imperfections and sharpening the final Boston skyline image of Dark as NightGood light and happy photo making!

Historic Boston Fish Pier

Historic Boston Fish Pier

Last week I photographed another Boston historic landmark, The Boston Fish Pier. This Boston waterfront landmark in the buzzing Seaport district is one of the oldest continuously working fish piers in the United States of America. The historic Boston Fish Pier is in operation since 1914 and is now owned by Massport since 1972. The Port of Boston waterfront landmark provides berthing space for regional fishermen and is home to the fish auction. To today fishing and fish processing remains ... LEARN MORE.

Bigger, better, greater Boston Photography Art

Earlier this week I made my way out to one of the most popular Boston Skyline Photography locations. I regularly visit this site to shoot the beautiful architecture of Boston as it rises along the harbor. I love being here when the City Night Lights merge with the twilight shortly after sunset and become one. This time I decided to capture the cityscape in a stunning sunrise panoramic. I arrived on time at dusk to set up and do some test shots prior to getting serious. Equipping my Canon camera with a >>> LEARN MORE!
